Byron E. Walker
Epping – Byron E. Walker, 89, of Epping formerly a longtime resident of Fremont died November 7, 2012 at the Rockingham County Nursing in Brentwood.
He was born November 13, 1922 in Plaistow, NH the son of the late Allen and Stella (Ross) Walker.
Mr. Walker lived in Fremont for 79 years before moving to Epping in 2001. He was a graduate of Sanborn Regional High School where he played football and was a member of the glee club. He was a meat cutter by trade and worked for Hannaford Brother’s in the seacoast for 20 years retiring in 1985. He also ran two businesses in Fremont, Walker Turkey Farm and Walker Stables.
Mr. Walker was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Marines.
He was active in the Brentwood Baptist Church, played in his own music group and up until recently was scheduling shows in area nursing homes, where he played swing music for the patients. He enjoyed the peace & serenity of the woods and loved being surrounded by his family, playing a good game of cards, snowmobiling or puttering in his shop.
Family members include his wife of 65 years, Betty (Yeany) Walker, his children, Joyce Enos, Carol Sweatt, Martha Shaw, Viriginia Ford, Beth Walker, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, his sisters, Ernesta Lessard and Phylis Dickinson, his brother, Glen Walker.
Services will be held at the Brentwood Baptist Church, North Road, Brentwood, Monday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. If desired donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, PO Box 183, Londonderry, NH 03053. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Fremont.
