Epping – Dorothy M. Thorp, 88, of Epping died March 3, 2016 at the Rockingham County Home in Brentwood.

Mrs. Thorp was born in Haverhill, MA October 26, 1927 the daughter of the late Alcide “Pete” Miron and Henriette (Blake) Miron.

She was raised in East Kingston and was a graduate of Sanborn Regional High School, she was a caudet Nurse and graduate of New England Baptist Nursing School in Boston. She received her master’s degree in Health and Human Services from New England College, working at Phillips Exeter Academy as a nurse for 25 years.

Past president of the Women’s Auxillary Post #32 of Exeter, a member Exeter Lyon’s Club, board of director’s for Leddy Fields, a member of Exeter Minstrials and a member of St. Michael Choir and its director.

She was the wife of the late Dean J. Thorp, Jr.

Family members include her sons, David Thorp and his wife, Deborah of Rochester and Douglas Thorp and his partner Kathy of Epping, 6 grand children and 5 step grand children.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Sawyer.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family at the funeral home from 12 noon until 1 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, PO Box 176, Exeter, NH 03833. Private burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
