A resident of Stratham since 1959, Paul Sawyer died at Oceanside Nursing Home in Hampton on November 19th.
He was born August 4, 1920 to the late Harry J. and Lillian Dustin Sawyer in Franklin, NH and subsequently moved to Woodsville, a town he truly enjoyed and reminisced about throughout his life. In Woodsville High School, he received awards for excellence in baseball, basketball and football, and participated in the band and in several plays.

Upon his return to Woodsville he married Margaret Bean of St. Johnsbury, Vermont and started his career working for Armour and Company in Portsmouth. After 35 years of service as a sales representative, he retired in 1982. Thereafter, he actively enjoyed fly fishing and relaxing at his cottage on Duncan Lake in Ossipee, and until recently worked as a custodian at the Rockingham County Administration Building and as a bookkeeper for Peter Sawyer Antiques of Exeter.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret of 63 years in 2010. He is survived by three sons: Harry Sawyer and his wife Iris of Fairfax, Virginia; Peter Sawyer, of Kensington; and William Sawyer and his wife Susan, of Kingston. He also is survived by five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a brother Richard Sawyer of Peterborough.
