Christopher Thomas Rowe


Stratham – Christopher Thomas Rowe, Sr, 81, of Stratham died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at his home after battling cancer.

He was born March 16, 1932 in Exeter, NH the son of the late James and Frances (Gadd) Rowe.

He was a 1950 graduate of Exeter High School, a teletype operator in the United States Air Force and a member of the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department for 58 years, where he serves as Vice President of the Association.

He was a member of the Exeter Lions Club, a founding member of the Volunteer Fire Department firing squad, served on the Stratham Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, a member of the Stratham Community Church.  He also dedicated 45 years of service to the Stratham Fair.  Mr. Rowe was a General Contractor for many years.

Family members include his wife of 60 years, Joyce, four sons, Christopher Jr. and his partner, Beth, Kevin and his wife, Sandra, Keith and his wife, DeeDee, Scott and his wife, Julie, his daughter, Kathryn Nichols and her husband, Michael, fourteen grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and his sister, Edna Morgan.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn Rowe , his siblings, Richard Rowe, Arthur Wiggin, James Rowe and Beatrice Towle.  His family was his pride and joy  He enjoyed golf, gardening, politics and following sports, participating in community affairs and visiting with his many friends.

Services will be held at the Stratham Community Church, 6 Emery Lane, Stratham, Thursday at 11 AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family Wednesday, From 4-8 PM.  Family flowers only.  If desired donations may be made to the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department,10 Bunker Hill Avenue, Stratham, NH  03885.  Burial will be in the Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham.
