Epping – Madelyn E. Downing, 89, of Epping died, Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Exeter Hospital.

She was born February 9, 1927 in Concord, NH the daughter of the late Arthur and Harriett (Gage) Ayer.

Madelyn was raised in Concord living most of her life in Epping. She was the lunch room “Lady” for the Epping Middle School for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.

She was the wife of the late Hubert J. Downing.

Family members include her sons, Bruce J. Downing and his wife, Holly of Epping and David H. Downing and his wife, Leeann of Rochester, four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, her sister, Elinor Fife of Penacook.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Services will be held Friday at 4 PM at the funeral Home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Private Burial will be in the Downing Family Cemetery, Epping.
