Joan Hart Bacall
Joan H. Bacall (Brownell) 83, of Exeter, NH, formerly of Salem, Mass. died on Tuesday November 10, 2015, at the RiverWoods retirement community, in Exeter.
She was born on July 26, 1932, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Emory and Evelyn (Hart) Brownell.
Joan attended the Allendale Columbia School in Rochester and was graduated from Syracuse University with a B.A.
She served as Director of Development at the Essex Institute, in Salem, Mass. during the 1980’s and 90’s. Joan was also committed to community service having devoted many years as a Board member of the Salem Hospital, Children’s Friend and Family Service, Hamilton Hall and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
She leaves behind her son, Charles Parker Bacall and his wife, Brenda of North Yarmouth, Maine; her daughter Emily Bacall Vinton and her husband, Cab Vinton of East Hampstead, NH; her granddaughters, Abigail DeRigo, Cecelia DeRigo and Marby Vinton of East Hampstead, NH, Katherine Bacall and Victoria Bacall of North Yarmouth, Maine; and her grandson Parker Bacall of North Yarmouth, Maine.
Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Hamilton Hall, 9 Chestnut St., Salem, Mass. 01970
