Gayle A. Woodburn

Exeter – Gayle A. Woodburn, 84, of Exeter died Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

She was born in Portsmouth, NH July 24, 1933 the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Gifford) Hoit.

Gayle was raised in Exeter, attended Robinson Female Seminary, and graduated from Dover High School. She worked for many years for the New England Telephone Company, then attended Continental Beauty School. She married Robert S. Woodburn on September 19, 1957.

She was the hairdresser for the Rockingham County Nursing Home for 20 years. She loved the beach, dancing, music, shopping, and dining with family and friends at the Dinnerhorn in Portsmouth.

Family members include her husband, Bob, of 60 years, her daughter, Nancy Prendergast of Exeter, her son, Robert Woodburn and his wife JoCarol of Hooksett, granddaughter, Jacqueline Prendergast and her fiancé Tom Rock of Framingham, MA, and her sister, Linda Mall of Kansas City. She was predeceased by her brothers, Scott and Palmer Hoitt.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10 AM until the hour of the service. If desired donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
