Born on April 30, 1931 in Exeter NH Jean was the fourth daughter of Maurice and Ruby (Bennett) Cottrell. She attended Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter, and Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro.

An avid knitter of everything from Icelandic sweaters to toys she leaves a long, and loving legacy of hand knit creations. Jean was founder and CEO of Mrs. Wiggins Whoopie Pies for a short time starting in 1988. A business venture she established which was known from Concord, NH and throughout the seacoast for her exceptional recipe.

Jean was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Francis Wiggin, a close niece Judy Ann Kenneally, and her grandson Bruce Wiggin Jr. Surviving family members include Bruce Francis Wiggin and wife Donna of Kittery ME, Peter Ernest Wiggin and wife Dori of Stratham NH, and Betty Jean Moody and husband Fred of Easton NH, grandchildren Samuel Moody of Portsmouth NH, Jason Wiggin of Albany NH, Ele Wiggin of Stratham NH, great grandchildren Tiana and Jason Wiggin Jr, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
