Josephine P. Tirabassi
PORTSMOUTH, NH
Josephine Pace Tirabassi, passed away peacefully at Clipper Harbor of Portsmouth on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the age of 98. She was born in Lynn, Ma. on April 9, 1914, daughter of the late Michael and Teresa (Pace) Pellegrini. She graduated from Beverly High School and worked in the United Shoe Machinery Corp. office. She was married in 1943 to Clyde Tirabassi (ret. Major, US Army Reserve) until his death in 2002.
Her travels throughout the US during WWIIvisiting him on leave helped make new friends and expanded her knowledge of people. She offered love and care to family, friends and neighbors from all walks of life. At the age of 80 she fulfilled a lifelong desire to visit Italy and made brand new friends on that trip.
Her passions were the cooking and presentation of beautiful meals,attending theatre and concerts, volunteering at the USO in Boston and social organizations in Methuen, Ma., where she and her husband resided for many years. Her greatest pleasure came from the care (and feeding) of her grandchildren Matthew and Maria and many nieces
and nephews when youngsters, as well as family, friends and neighbors.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, a late in life fondness for dogs, and was loved and loved her many wonderful caregivers at Langdon Place of Exeter and Clipper Harbor of Portsmouth.
Surviving family members include her son, Donald Tirabassi and daughter–in-law Rev.MarenTirabassi, Matthew and Julia Tirabassi, Maria and David Mankin, sister Minerva Danda and her husband John, brother Robert Pellegrini and sister-in-law Ann Pellegrini, and many nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends Kim and Jean Walen, Wanda Stoebel and Linda Cefalo and Janet Taylor. She was predeceased by Clyde and her brother Gene Pellegrini.
Services will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Thursday at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family from 12 noon until the hour of the service. Private burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
