Alan K. Stewart

Northwood - Alan K. Stewart, 63, of Northwood went home to be with his Lord on  Monday, February 7, 2011 in his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born March 21, 1947 in Rockview, WV the son of Mary Stewart of WV and the late Walter Stewart.

Mr. Stewart was raised in Mullens, WV and was a graduate of Mullens H.S.  He received his bachelors degree from New Hampshire College, he lived in Brentwood for 25 years before moving to Northwood in 2009.

Alan loved to golf, work in his yard and most of all spend time with his family.  He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam War who retired from the Veterans Administration in Manchester after 38 years serving as Chief Financial Officer and Administrator.

Although he spent most of his life in New Hampshire he was always a West Virginian in his heart. He was a kind man with a huge heart who was loved by everyone who met him.

Family members include his wife of nearly 42 years, Linda A. (County) Stewart of Northwood, his son, Robert  Stewart and his wife, Marian of CA and his daughter Alisha K. Roy and her husband, Matt  and their daughter Caitlin Nicole Roy of FL, his sisters,  Dreama Hinebaugh and her husband, Darrell of WV and Pamela Jenkins and her husband, Robert of SC, his wife’s parents, Bob and Rita County of Northwood, his brother in law and sister in law, Thomas and Carol Lavigne of Northwood also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday from 10 to 11 AM.  A celebration of his life will follow at 11 AM.  A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 20 Warren Street, Ste.4, Concord, NH  03301.
