Kenneth E. Smith
Brentwood – Kenneth E. “Ken” Smith, 76, of Brentwood passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family and his dog Maggie.
He was born September 11, 1936 in Exeter, NH the son of the late Norman B. and Ruth (Robinson) Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Brentwood.
Ken attended local schools and was a graduate of the Thompson School of Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire. He enlisted and served in the US Army Reserves from 1957-1963. He worked at area farm equipment Dealers, JF Brown & Sons, Seacoast Tractor and Taylor Ford before starting his own business Ken Smith Tractor in Brentwood.
He was a member of the Major General John Sullivan Masonic Lodge #2 of Epping and served as past Master.
Ken Loved farming and was proud of his Brentwood roots, he also loved the outdoors and traveling in his motor home, never going the same way twice. He always had an ongoing project usually refurbishing vintage farm Equipment.
Kens family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Exeter Hospital and the wonderful nurses on Driscoll Ground at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.
Family members include his wife of 54 years, Janice (Brown) Smith, his three daughters and their husbands, Debra & David Flagg of Brentwood, Dawn & Ted Higley of Newfields, Linda & Jim Bergeron of Newmarket, his son and his wife, Paul Smith & Joyce Keegal of Brentwood, his 9 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, and a great grandson, his sister, Eleanor Smith Butler of Lexington, MA, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Smith Newell.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH, Friday at 11 AM. Relatives are respectfully invited and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday from 4-7 PM. Family flowers only. If desired donations may be made to the Mary E. Bartlett Library, 22 Dalton Road, Brentwood, NH 03833. Burial will be in the Brentwood Cemetery.
