Nancy D. Smallwood
Exeter - Nancy D. Smallwood, 82 of Exeter died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness. She was a resident of Riverwoods.
She was born September 10, 1929 in Trenton, New Jersey the daughter of the late William G. and Mae (Gardner) Dodds.
Mrs. Smallwood lived in West Windsor, VT for 25 years before moving to Exeter. She was a graduate of Ethel Walker Prep School and Vassar College in 1951. While in school, she was the captain of the swim team, she served as the secretary of the Western MA garden club, Grey Lady Newton-Waltham, MA Hospital and was an officer of the West Windsor Historical Society. Nancy was an avid member of the Ridge Painting Club.
Nancy and her husband, Bill just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in November.
Family members include their son, John W. Smallwood, III, two grandchildren, Taylor and Anna and a great grandson, Joel.
She was predeceased by her three children, Peter, Nancy and Robert.
A Celebration of her life will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 4 pm at Stockbridge Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The family requests no visiting hours and flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Spring burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Norwich, Vermont.
