Stephen E. Slater
Manchester – Stephen E. Slater, 65, of Manchester formerly of Epping died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 10, 1948 in Providence, RI the son of the late Thomas J. and Edith (Simpson) Slater.
Mr. Slater was raised in Providence, after High School he joined the US Coast Guard serving four years before settling in Epping.
He began his working career at the Former Wentworth Lumber of Exeter and for many years he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard as a Resource Manager. He had resided in Manchester for the past 11 years.
He was a member of the Granite State Ambassadors, volunteered at the local soup kitchen and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Family members include his wife, Paulina Slater, his sons, Thomas J. Slater and his wife, Amy D. and Robert W. Slater and his wife, Michelle, his grandchildren, Austin, Noah, Kylie, Meghan and Evan, Paulina’s children and spouses, Veronica and Lionel Grassi, Laura and Max Rocha and Mauricio Diaz , his siblings, Deb Miner, Patricia Luth and Fran Jaworski.
Mr. Slater was predeceased by his brothers, Joe and Thomas Slater.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Route 27, Epping , NH Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Sunday from 3-6 PM. Family flowers only. If desired donations may be made to The NH Food Bank, 700 East Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, NH 03104. Burial will be private.
