Henry S. Sheldon
Exeter – Henry S. Sheldon, 85, of Exeter died Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.
He was born November 27, 1928 in Claremont, NH the son of the late Harold A. and Ruth (Chandler) Sheldon.
He was raised in Claremont and was a graduate of Stevens High School, received his Bachelor’s degree in Arts from the University of New Hampshire, Durham and his masters degree in Education from Boston University.
He taught school at Salisbury Memorial School and Triton Regional School for many years where he coached J.V. Football, Varsity Basketball and cross country Track. Mr. Sheldon continued to coach even after his retirement from teaching and was just chosen to be in the Triton Hall of Fame.
He loved hiking and was a member of the New England 4000 Footer Club.
Family members include his wife of 63 years, Judith G. (Jones) Sheldon of Exeter, his sons, William H. Sheldon and his wife, Julia of Exeter and Mitchell J. Sheldon and his wife, Susan Richman of Cape Elizabeth, ME, his grandchildren, Raina M. Sheldon and Jacob W. C. Sheldon, his brother-in-law, Stephen A. Jones of Wilton, NH.
A Memorial gathering will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 10 AM till noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. If desired donations may be made to the Henry S. Sheldon Scholarship Fund, c/o Stockbridge Funeral Home.
