Richard W. Shaw
Fremont - Richard W. Shaw, 64, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his home
surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Somerville, MA December 5, 1947 the first son of Norman and
Doris (Sherrick) Shaw of Charlestown, MA. He moved to Fremont in 1970 from
Charlestown, Ma.
Mr. Shaw was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving with the US Air Force for two
tours in Vietnam.
He worked 20 years for the former The Domino Sugar Refinery in Charlestown,
MA and 21 years as a corrections officer at the Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood, NH.
Mr. Shaw was proudly involved with his grandchildren's sports and activities. He enjoyed camping, walks in the woods, hunting, fishing and cooking.
In addition to his parents, family members include his wife of 10 years, Marty (Walker) Shaw of Fremont; a son, Richard W. Shaw, Jr. of Fremont; two daughters, Tina Peel and her husband, Jamie & Kristina Edgerly and her husband, Jayson all of Brentwood; eight grandchildren, James Jr, Kailee, Tyler, Sarah, Emily, Isa, Aria, and Owen; two brothers, Terry Shaw of Rensselaer, NY and David Shaw of Tewksbury, MA; four sisters, Sandra Weagle of Searsmont, ME, Ruth Casavant of West Warwick, RI, Laura Shaw and Paula Melaugh both of Lee, NH (along with all of their spouses); several nieces & nephews, and many in-laws.
Mr. Shaw was predeceased by his first wife, Marlene (Peters) Shaw in 1998, by his sister, Joanne Turner, and 2 brothers, Russell and Frankie Shaw.
Services will be held Friday, August 17th at 11 A.M. in the First Baptist Church, 201 North Road, Brentwood followed by burial in the Village Cemetery, Fremont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o The Birthday Keepers, 72 Long Hill Road, Raymond, NH 03077.
