Lorraine Leathe Shaw
Lorraine L. Shaw of Brentwood, NH passed away on July 28, 2011 at the age of 92.
She was born October 21, 1918 in Woburn MA to Henry H. Leathe and Charlotte M. (Cann) Leathe.
She graduated from Newton MA High School in 1936 and The Secretarial School of Boston in 1938.
She was married to the late Lindley L. Shaw on May 10, 1941.
Mrs. Shaw was employed at John Hancock Insurance Co. Boston MA and Portsmouth Hospital, Portsmouth NH.
During her years as a Homemaker she was instrumental in gathering support and funding for the creation of WGBH Channel 2 in Boston as well as holding office in Woburn PTA. She was also active with the US Census Bureau and City of Woburn Elections Office.
She resided in Woburn and Newton MA until 1962 when her family relocated to the New Hampshire Seacoast where she remained. She passed on her love of the ocean to all of her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband, her brothers H. Harrison Leathe Jr. and Norman Bowditch Leathe as well as a grandson, Jeffery Preston Shaw and daughter-in-law Pricilla Shaw.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Lindley L. Jr. (Lee) and Olive Shaw of Windham NH, Natalie and Michael Perry of Stratham NH, Loralin and Stephen Pearce of North Hampton NH and Richard S. Shaw of Rochester NH.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren Kathryn, Michael. Eric, William, Tracey, Bradley, Jason, Bonnie. Nathan, Amy and Elizabeth, and 19 great grandchildren.
A private Memorial Celebration will be held at the convenience of her family.
