Kenneth J. Sargent
Kenneth J. Sargent, 94, lifelong resident of 13 Union Street, Exeter, N.H., died May 5, 2015 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home following a long period of declining health.
He was born in Exeter, N.H., the second son of the late Wendell and Ella (Small) Sargent.
Mr. Sargent worked in the local defense industry during World War II. He was a private chauffeur in Exeter for many years and then managed the corporate guest house of Allied Signal Corp. until his retirement. He later worked for Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County for 14 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls where he joyfully served in several lay positions, including deacon. Of all the things Ken enjoyed doing, serving his Lord and Savior was a priority. Ken and his family enjoyed spending time on Lake Winnipesaukee and were summer residents at Alton Bay Christian Conference Center for more than 45 years. Ken loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Mr. Sargent was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary L. Sargent. He is survived by: three sons, Douglas Sargent and his wife Mary, of Auburn, N.H., Scott Sargent and his wife Patricia of Alton, N.H., and Stephen Sargent of Berlin, N.H.; two daughters, Donna Tobyne and her husband Lawrence of Beverly, Mass., and Barbara MacCrae and her husband Michael of Piketon, Ohio; ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family, Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Private burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
Mr. Sargent supported the Alzheimer’s Association and the family requests that In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 166 South River Road, Suite 210, Bedford, NH 03110.
