Michael E. Remington
Exeter – Michael E. Remington, 73, of Exeter died June 19, 2014 at his home.
He was born July 24, 1940 in Manchester, NH the son of the late Harold E. and Mary E. (McLaughlin) Remington.
Mr. Remington was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School, living most of his life in Dover before moving to Exeter in 2000. He served in the US Navy from 1958 - 1963.
After serving in the Military he worked for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard as a Submarine Systems Manager and the Chief Weapons Engineer.
He was a member of the K of C in Mystic, CT, AOH of Hampton, NH, US Submarine Veterans, (USSVI) and the Exeter Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife, Elease C. Latimer, his children, William Remington, Thomas Remington, Cheryl Kearney, Remi Abbott, Thomas Abbott, step daughters, Kristin Kearns-Jordan and Liz Malloy, 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 3 sisters, Dorothy Harrises, Kathleen Martel, and Mary Winifred Soucy, and numerous nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Remington.
From childhood, he loved the ocean - fishing, sailing, and working. He is remembered for his generosity, gentle nature, and love of family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Michael Church, corner of Front and Lincoln Streets, Exeter. A Mercy Meal will follow the Mass in the Church Hall. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH on Monday from 6 - 8 pm. Burial will be at 2 PM at the Center Cemetery, North Hampton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to COPD International, 131 DW Highway #627, Nashua, NH 03060.
