Robert J. Reid
Brentwood – Robert J. Reid, 88, of Brentwood died Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home.
He was born January 3, 1925 in Bethel Park, PA the son of the late Alan and Alda (Weir) Reid.
Bob was raised in Bethel Park and was a graduate of Bethel High School, after graduation he enlisted in the US Army serving four years. He attended Pittsburgh School of Aeronautics; he was hired by Eastern Airlines with his Mechanics License, then to flight Engineer, copilot and Captain where he served for over 35 years.
He and his wife Ellie wintered in Englewood Florida and travelled the world together. He loved his home and spending time in his acre garden, puttering in his workshop or relaxing by the pool with family and friends. Occasionally on Sunday’s he would meet at the Portsmouth Country Club for coffee with his retired pilot buddies.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered for his dry humor and warm smile.
Family members include his wife of 54 years, Ellie (Mercier) Reid, his children, James R. Reid, Robert A. Reid, Sharon Jessup and Carol St. Hillarie, his grandchildren, Larry, Stephanie, Heather, Nathan, Jazzlyn and Jimmy, his sister, Janet Griffith and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Marshall and Jack Reid.
A Memorial gathering will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 3-6 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Rockingham VNA/Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
