Exeter – Alberta L. Ratcliffe, 98, of Exeter died Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood.

She was born January 27, 1917 in Cambridge, MA the daughter of the late John E. and Bertha A. (McEwen) Hutchings.

She was raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School, she lived most of her life in Lynn, MA moving to Exeter in 1977. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed crocheting, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Family members include her children, Karl V. Struss, Jr. of Rockledge FL, Karen I. Rafuse of Exeter, Roberta L. Hill of Newmarket and Diane M. Signorelli of Tucson, AZ, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two nephews.

Alberta was preceded in death by her brother, John E. Hutchings, Jr.

Visitation will be held 2-4 PM and a service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, January 9th at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Friends and family are respectfully invited. Private burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington, MA.
