Emily A. Quinn
Hampton - Emily A. Quinn, 87, a resident of
Partridge House in Hampton, NH formerly of
Stratham, NH passed away peacefully on
October 16 surrounded by her loving family.
Emily was born in Augusta, Maine on December 1, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Michaelina Popovitch Ochmanski who emigrated from Poland in 1907. Emily grew up in Augusta, Maine, one of ten children, graduating from Cony High School in 1945. She was the secretary of her class and the recipient of the DAR Award.
In 1949, she married John Quinn and they relocated to the greater Boston area for employment opportunities. In the early sixties, Emily and John settled in Stratham, NH to pursue the development of the insurance company, EBPA in Hampton, NH. Emily was an integral part of the company's growth and success. Their love of travel took them to Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand. However, Emily was always happiest skiing with her family in Jackson, NH enjoying the White Mountains or boating along her native Maine coast.
Over the years, Emily volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Crossroads House. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Exeter, NH. Emily was a talented piano player, playing by ear, never having learned to read a note. She loved gardening, photography and preparing holiday meals for her family. She treasured her role of being a devoted wife, mother and nana.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Quinn Bean of Stratham, NH; three sons, James Quinn of Wells, Maine, Michael Quinn of Rye, NH and Peter Quinn of Kennebunk, Maine; three grandchildren, Kalyn Quinn Bean of Aspen, Colorado, Patrick Quinn of Newburyport, Massachusetts and Kevin Quinn of Plymouth, NH.
Emily was predeceased by her beloved husband,
John
, in 2007 and by seven of her brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, at the corner of Front and Lincoln Streets in Exeter on Friday, October 24 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family on Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Private burial will be in the Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham.
