Stephen M. Olson, Sr.

Stephen M. (Valiquet) Olson, Sr., 37, of 38 Bailey Road, Sutton NH, died Sept 9, 2015 at home under Hospice Care following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 2, 1978 in Portsmouth NH, grew up in Exeter NH and graduated from Exeter High School in 1997. In 2003 Stephen decided to join law enforcement and graduated from the New Hampshire Police Academy with the 133rd Class. He started working part-time in Newbury NH and then, in 2004 he joined the Bradford NH Police Department where he has continued to serve his community until he retired in May 2015, due to his illness.

Stephen was a man of many great qualities. He was a loving family man, a great husband and an awesome father. Besides providing for them, he enjoyed working many home projects, hiking, flying his drones, “hobo” fires in his mother’s driveway and hanging out and practicing archery with his son.

He was predeceased by his grandmothers Sylvia B. Moulton and Brigida Valiquet.

He is survived by his loving wife Sheri Olson, son Stephen M. Olson, Jr and stepson Zach Swinerton; Steve’s mother Sue Moulton of Hampton; his brother Jim Filepp, married to Michelle Filepp, their two children Anne and Sammy; his sister Melissa Jautaikis married to Steve Jautaikis, their two children Alexandrea and Jameson; Sheri’s parents Carl and Gail Olson; her brother Ken Olson married to Tobyn, their daughter Paige; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His best friend R. Bowen has been a loyal and supportive friend to Steve and his family in his final days.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter at 7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family from 5 PM until the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Stephen M. Olson, Jr. Trust Fund, c/o Lake Sunapee Bank, P.O. Box 37, New London, NH 03257.
