Julia “Julie” Morris

Exeter – Julia “Julie” G. Morris, 71, of Exeter passed away peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.

A lifelong resident of Exeter, she was born here January 11, 1940 the daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Silk) Stillings.

Julie was a graduate of the Robinson Female Seminary and attended the University of New Hampshire, Durham. She worked for the former Exeter Banking Company in Exeter for a short time. In 1960, she married her husband, Edward J. Morris. They settled in Exeter where they raised their two sons, Ed, Jr. and Jeff. Her husband, Ed died suddenly very young leaving her with two young sons.

With grace and dignity, she dedicated her life to raising her sons.

“Grammie” as Julie was known to her family was a gentle, caring grandmother who enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took great pride in her home and it was shown through her beautiful plants and gardens.

Family members include her two sons, Jeffrey Morris and his wife, Andrea of Portsmouth, Edward Morris, Jr. and his wife, Sally of Lebanon, ME, her grandchildren, Madison, Ben, Elizabeth, Tyler and Jessica, her great grandchildren, Lilly and Blake, her sisters, Leona Bunker, Doris St. Amour and brother, Ralph Stillings, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday, November 5th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family Friday, November 4th at the Stockbridge Funeral Home from 6 - 8 PM. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery with her husband, Ed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice or the Stratham, New Hampshire SPCA at NHSPCA.
