John M. Mendes, Jr.
Exeter – John M. Mendes, Jr., 88, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Genesis Center, Exeter.
He was born in Warren, RI on May 18, 1926 the son of the late Adolino and Mary (Martin) Mendes.
Mr. Mendes was a graduate of Fall River High School and lived most of his life in Exeter. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII. He worked for many years at Phillips Exeter Academy in the Maintenance Department.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post #32 of Exeter.
Family members include his wife, Barbara (Simpson) Mendes, his children, James Mendes, Barbara Hawes and Loretta Salazor, two grandchildren, Michael Fish and Melissa Salazro, two great grandchildren, Lucas Fish and Sydney Fish.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11 AM. The family request no visiting hours and flowers please be omitted. If desired donations may be made to S.P.C.A., Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885. Private burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
