Deborah A. McKenna


Exeter – Deborah Ann (Cook) McKenna, 49, of Exeter passed away peacefully August 17, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Debbie was born April 26, 1964 in Wakefield, MA the daughter of Walter Cook of Wakefield and the late Cynthia (Downs) Cook. She was raised in Wakefield, MA and was a graduate of Wakefield High School class of 1982. She worked for the SAU School District 50 in the Superintendent’s Office where she had countless friends and colleagues.

Debbie was an incredible person who would do anything for another with unrelenting compassion.  She always thought of others first and was always there to provide support in her loving and caring way.  She loved life to the fullest everyday with family and friends as the center of her universe and enjoyed the outdoors, marathon walking, knitting and a good camp fire.  Debbie touched so many hearts and will be missed dearly by all that knew her, our lives have been blessed by having known her.

In addition to her father, family members include, her beloved husband, Keith McKenna, her son, Logan McKenna and her daughter, Erin McKenna both of Exeter, whom she loved with all her heart; her brother, John Cook of PA, her brother Jamie Cook and his wife, Jeannette of PA her in-laws Francis and Jackie McKenna of Epsom and her two brother’s-in-law Kevin and Kenneth McKenna of Epsom.  She also is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews, Ryan and Joslyn McKenna and Cameron, Audra and Genevieve Cook.

A Memorial gathering will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Thursday from 5-7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In Lieu of Flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MAS 02215.   Services will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant Street, Wakefield, MA on Friday, August 23rd at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
