Helen F. Maxwell


Brentwood – Helen F. Maxwell, 92, formerly of Exeter died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

She was born July 20, 1919 in Exeter the daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth (Maher) Adams.

A lifelong resident, Mrs. Maxwell was a graduate of Robinson Female Seminary and the Somerville School of Nursing.  She was a registered nurse working at the Exeter Hospital for many years, she also was the school nurse at the Exeter Junior High School.

She was a communicant of St. Michael Church, and a former CCD teacher.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother who provided daycare care for her grandchildren.

She was the wife of the late Alan B. Maxwell.

Family members include her sons Gregory A. Maxwell,and his wife Ruth, John J. Maxwell both of Exeter, Alan “Chip” Maxwell III and daughter Mary E. Jensen and husband Erik both of Newmarket, her son James R. Maxwell and his wife Joyce of Milton, NH, her 11 grandchildren Andrew Maxwell, Joseph Maxwell, David Maxwell, Alison Maxwell, Roslyn Maxwell, Melissa Maxwell, Brent Maxwell Amy Jensen Cooper, Jaclyn Jensen, William Jensen, Samantha Maxwell and 3 great grandchildren, her sister, Elizabeth A. Hurley of Wilton, NH, Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, corner of Front and Lincoln Streets, Exeter, Monday at 10 AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family Sunday from 5-7 PM.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rockingham County Nursing Home Patient Recreation Fund, 117 North Road, Brentwood, NH  03833.  Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
