Shirley J. Lee
Dover- Shirley J. Lee, 84, of Dover, Formerly of York, ME died peacefully July 2, 2014 at Watson Fields in Dover with her son Gary, daughter Holly, and devoted friend Thelma Stolzenburg at her side.
She was born November 2, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI the daughter of the late George Bautz and Lillian (Bautz) Hetzel.
Shirley was raised on a farm in Wisconsin and attended schools there. After being stationed with her husband at Pease Air Force Base, she moved to Exeter, where she lived for many years raising her family with her own special gift for steadfastness and unconditional love. She co-owned Lee Homes Inc., Lee Mobile Home Park in Exeter and Caincrest Mobile Home Park in York, ME. She was a faithful charter member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Newington.
A gentle and caring mother, her children always came first in her life. She enjoyed quiet simple things like family, canning , gardening and her faith and was always there to lend a helping hand or just to listen and visit.
She will be remembered as a loving grandmother who was always there with a smile and hug for her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Lee, her two sons, Larry Lee and Jeffrey Lee and a grandson, Jeremy Hobbs.
Family members include her children, Gary Lee and his wife, Patty of Barrington, Holly L. Plourde and her husband, Dana of Eliot, ME, and Darren Lee of York, ME. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A private service was held at Holy Trinity Church and burial was arranged through the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.
