Harold L. Lee


York, ME – Harold L. Lee, 82, of York, ME, formerly of Exeter, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Watson Fields Assisted Living Facility in Dover with loving and caring family by his side.

He was born in Friendship, WI on November 4, 1929, a son of the late Clifford and Hazel Lee.

Harold was raised in Wisconsin. He married his childhood sweetheart and wife of over 60 years, Shirley (Bautz) Lee before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. After his time in the service, the couple moved to Exeter to raise their family. Harold and Shirley owned and operated Lee Homes, Inc. of Lee, NH for many years before purchasing Caincrest Mobile Home Park of York, ME in 1979.

He was a hard-working man with an infectious smile who loved to hunt and tend to his vegetable gardens. He was well known for the gardens he grew while living at the Bellamy Fields and Watson Fields facilities. Harold was a fantastic cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends using the food he grew and hunted.

Harold was a founding member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Newington. He adored his church family, especially the children, and would hand out special treats to them at every service. He will sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Shirley, family members include his sons; Darren Lee and his wife Victoria of York, ME and Gary Lee of Lebanon, ME, his daughter Holly Plourde and her husband Dana of Eliot, ME, his brother Donald Lee of San Antonio, TX, his 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sons; Larry and Jeffrey Lee, three brothers and two sisters.

The family will welcome visitors from 11 am to 12 noon on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 22 Fox Run Rd., Newington. Services will follow the visitation, starting at 12 noon in the church. Burial will be at 11 am on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the Exeter Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston, 240 Commercial Street, 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02109 or to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 22 Fox Run Rd., Newington, NH 03801.
