George R. Johnston
Exeter - George R. Johnston, 52, of Exeter died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Exeter Hospital.
He was born October 26, 1957 in Othello, WA the son of George K. Johnston of Lake Suzy, FL and the late Emma (Zavala) Johnston.
We remember George as a man that was always happy and passionate about life. He was a devoted husband and father. George shared 18 years of marriage with his wife Tammy. Together they enjoyed seeing live music, dancing, boating, skiing, playing cribbage and traveling. George loved skiing with his family and bringing together family and friends at their camp at Province Lake. George enjoyed playing golf and he was a talented musician, often writing music and playing his guitar for family and friends. He lived in Exeter with his family for the past 18 years.
George graduated from Nashua High School in 1975. In his younger years, George lived in many locations and especially enjoyed his time in the Marshall Islands. He received his Bachelors degree in English from the University of New Hampshire. While serving the US Army as a linguistics specialist he lived in Germany for 2 years. Following his service to the US Army, George worked for many years as a technical documentation manager, utilizing his German language skills. Most recently he worked as the Director of Technical Documentation for Transparent Language Company in Nashua, NH, a language learning software company that specializes in custom design packages for all branches of the military. George was also the proud founder of Knowledge Transfer Specialists, a company that contracts with manufacturers to manage all aspects of their technical documentation requirements.
In addition to his father, family members include his wife of 18 years, Tamela J. (Sanborn) Johnston of Exeter, his daughters, Colby R. Johnston and Bailey E. Johnston both of Exeter; his sisters, Carol Nadworny and her husband, Edward, of Duck, NC, their children, Alani and Matthew; Sondra Davis and her husband, Larry, of Houston, MS, their children John, Jeffrey and Rebecca; his brother, William Sanchez and his wife, Gigi, of San Francisco, CA; his father-in-law, Butch Sanborn and his wife, Lynn, of Raymond, NH; his mother-in-law, Joyce Reeves and her husband, Kent, of San Juan Capistrano, CA; his brother-in-law Mark Sanborn and his wife, Linda, of Kingston, NH, their children, Eric, Gabrielle and Chase; his sister-in-law Terri Booth and her husband, Jay, of San Juan Capistrano, CA, their children Jamie, Jodie, Alex, Jaycie and Jake; and was well loved by all who knew him.
A Celebration of George’s life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, on Tuesday April 20th at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Tuesday beginning at 5:00 PM and join the family for a Celebration of George’s life at 7:30 PM. Family flowers only.
