Orris F. Johnson
Fremont – Orris F. Johnson, 87, of Fremont died, Sunday, July 25, 2010 at her daughter’s home.
She was born March 30, 1923 in Veezie, ME the daughter of the late John and Demena (Hutchinson) Amero. After her mother’s death she lived with her grandparents, John and Elizabeth Hutchinson.
Mrs. Johnson was raised in Quincy, MA and was a graduate of Quincy High School . She married George H. Johnson in 1942 and lived in Quincy, MA, Holbrook, MA and moved to Fremont in 1966. She was the librarian for the Fremont Ellis School, also the Brentwood Schools and served as a trustee for the Fremont Public Library, and enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher, where she was known as O.J.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and gardening and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and the Quilting Club.
She was the wife of the late George H. Johnson. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers from Rockingham VNA/Hospice for their wonderful care.
Family members include her children, Richard A. Johnson and his wife, Susan of GA, George H. Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Strafford, Elaine McGall and her husband, Tom of Fremont and Judy Johnson and her husband, Dan Sherwood of Brookfield, VT, her six grandchildren, Sonja H. Browne and her husband, Jon of Raymond, Eric Johnson and his wife, Gayle of FL, Kindra J. Gray and her husband, Justin of TX, Laura Johnson of GA, Ayla Johnson of TX and Tammy J. Entwisle of RI, her sister, Irma Stedman of Pittsfield, ME, also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-grand children.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Graveside services will be held at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH, Thursday at 11 AM. If desired donations may be made to Rockingham VNA/Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
