Dorothy V. Johnson

Exeter - Dorothy V. Johnson, 86, of Exeter, NH and Palm Coast, Fla., and formally of Meredith, NH and Andover Mass., passed away May 18, 2011 at Exeter Hospital.

She was born October 14, 1924 in Lawrence, Mass., a daughter of the late James L. and Marion E. (Mellor) Dean.

She was the wife of the late Mitchell Johnson, Jr.

A homemaker, Dorothy was a member of North Andover Country Club, the Andona Society, Hay Scales Exchange and served on the board of trustees at Lawrence General Hospital.

Dorothy and Mitchell loved their winter home in Palm Coast , Fla. They were avid golfers and enjoyed many happy years with friends. Dorothy loved her gardens and flowers. She also loved to play tennis and driving her Jaguar.

Family members include two sons, Mitchell Johnson III and his wife, Carol (Brightman) Johnson of Roxbury Conn., Dean Johnson and his wife, Holly (Burns) Johnson of Kennebunkport, Me, her daughter Cynthia Johnson of Conway, her sister, Barbara Bolton of Palm City, Fla., grandchildren, Sarah Johnson of Valley Village, Calif., Abbey Taylor of Litchfield Conn., Lindsey Burns Johnson of Washington DC, Philip John Pense and Theron Pense both of Conway .

She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Marsden.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday May 24, 2011 at the First Congregational Church, 6 Church Street, Kingston, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover, Mass. Following the services, a reception will be held at the Andover Inn. If desired donations may be to the Lawrence General Hospital, 1 General Street, Lawrence, MA 01842. Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter, NH.
