Christopher Hillsgrove
Christopher Hillsgrove, of Morton St. in Exeter, passed away at his home on Friday, March 21, after a long illness. He was 42.
Born in Concord, NH, he graduated from Concord High School in 1990 and was a member of the NH Civil Air Patrol. He was raised by his adopted grandparents, the late Clinton and Maxrene Patten of Pembroke Rd. For the past thirteen years he lived in Exeter, working as an auto mechanic and then a home builder, and later in his own business as a subcontractor and general handyman.
Mr. Hillsgrove was an avid NASCAR race fan and collector, and drove cars at Star Speedway in past years.
He was the father of Collene (Hillsgrove) Garcia of South Berwick, ME, Corina Hillsgrove of Brentwood, NH, and Samantha Hillsgrove of Exeter, and grandfather of Maci Garcia of South Berwick. He was the son of Claire Wilkinson of Dover and Lawrence Chagnon of Boscowen, and brother of Jennifer Bouley of Troy. He is survived by his adopted uncle Richard Patten and his wife Debra, of Concord; his aunt Miss Debra Patten of Concord; his aunt Cheryl Couture of Manchester, NH, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He also leaves his friend and companion, Patricia O’Keefe of Exeter, and honorary stepdaughters Kaylee and Christina Dalton, of Exeter and Peabody, MA.
A memorial service for Mr. Hillsgrove will be held at Stockbridge Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, at 7 pm, with visiting hours from 5 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beyond the Rainbow Fund, administered by the Center for Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital to benefit cancer patients and their families.
