Donald Bernard Harrison

Don is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Harrison his son, Brian Harrison and his daughter, Lori Simpson, all of Exeter, NH. Don’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren- Christopher Simpson ; Andrew Simpson and Katie Simpson all of Maryland; Kyle Harrison of Exeter and Codie Harrison of Tampa, FL. Don was also the proud great-grandfather of Corali Simpson of Leonardtown, MD. He also leaves behind his sisters, Patricia Hornsby of Sydney, Nova Scotia; Darlene Sellars of London, Ontario; Janet Moore of Windsor, Ontario; Verna Rogers of Amherst, Nova Scotia; Carol Harrison of Springhill, Nova Scotia; as well as his brother John Harrison of Amherst Nova Scotia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Don moved to the USA at the age of 17. He worked throughout the northeast performing a variety of jobs until coming to Exeter in 1958 where he met his wife, Lorraine. In 1959 He started working at CM Dining’s and later for DF Richard. He had a full career and retired in 2011.
Don was well known in the area as a great oil heat technician. An avid hockey fan all of his life, there was no other team other than the Montreal Canadians. Don loved to travel home to Nova Scotia whenever possible to spend time with his family and friends. Hawaii became a favorite vacation spot for Don and Lorraine in later years. Swimming with the dolphins and making visits to Pearl Harbor were among their favorite activities.
The most important thing in Don’s life was his family. Although Alzheimer’s disease attempted to rob him of his memory, Don battled it every step of the way with humor and dignity. Always ready with a smile for his visitors and a twinkle in his eye for the waitresses and nurses, Don will forever be missed, loved, and remembered.
The family is especially grateful to the visiting nurses and care takers for their loving care and compassion during these past months. Their visits were often the highlight of Don’s day.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, corner of Front and Lincoln Streets, Exeter, Saturday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family, Friday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts be made in Don’s name to Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH. Private burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.

Born December 27,1938 in Amherst, Nova Scotia to Donald Robertson and Dolores Harrison, and passed from this life on August 25, 2015, at the age of 76.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Todd Harrison.
