Kenneth C. Hallett, Sr.


Exeter – Kenneth C. Hallett, Sr., 88 died peacefully November 25, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare in Exeter, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 16, 1924 in Clinton, MA the son of the late Enoch and Nellie (Sheeley) Hallett. The family moved to Exeter in 1930.

Ken attended Exeter public schools and was in the class of 1944 at Tuck High School. In his senior year he enlisted in the army and received his diploma after his return from the military duty.  He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles” proudly serving in England, France and Germany during WWII.  He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

On February 22, 1951 he married Muriel Judkins of Exeter. They raised five children and shared 27 years of marriage before her untimely death in 1978.

Ken held many jobs during his life time, he worked for Exeter Manufacturing Company, Fremont Dairy, Woolworth’s Department Store and Exeter High School.  He was also a call firefighter for the Exeter Fire Department. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Exeter for 73 years, serving as Deacon, Sunday school teacher and sexton.

In retirement he lived at 277 Water Street and enjoyed gardening and helping others. He could be seen driving his red truck around Exeter taking people to their appointments or errands, he will be remembered for his humor and kind spirit. He lived at the Genesis Healthcare formerly Sunbridge for the past 4 years.  The family thanks the staff for their care, support and friendship.

One of Ken’s greatest joys was when his daughter Sandy was born on his 37th birthday. In recent years he enjoyed rides to the beach with Sandy and daughter Cheryl, nothing made him happier than spending time with family.

Family members include his three daughters, Sharon Hunzelman and husband, Dana of Derry, Cheryl Clough and husband, Skip of S. Berwick, ME, Sandra Perkins and husband Jay of Exeter, his two sons, Kenneth Jr. and his wife, Pam of Exeter, George and his wife, Rose of Exeter, also survived by 9 grandchildren, Kristie, Deanna, Tommy, Tammi, Jay, Shawn, Kathy, Jennifer and Rose, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Ken was a wonderful dad, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service.  Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
