Roland H. Goupil
Exeter – Roland H. Goupil, 79, of Exeter died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born on June 23, 1932 in Dover, NH the son of the late Henry and Mabel (Lemieux) Goupil.
He was raised in Dover and was a graduate of Dover High School in 1950 and upon graduation enlisted in the US Navy to serve his country. He purchased Gerry’s Variety Store in April of 1966 and continued to own and operated the store until his death.
Family members include his wife of 20 years, Laurie Goupil and daughter Amy Klemarczyk, he is also survived by his four children with his first wife, Joyce Lamson Upham who died in 1997, Deborah Gallant and her husband, Jeffrey of Exeter, Steven Goupil and his wife, Rose of Nottingham, Sharon Goupil and her partner, Lauren Somma of San Luis Obispo, CA, Desiree “DeeDee” Victoria and her husband, Michael of Escondido, CA his grandchildren, Tahlia Goupil, Joshua Gallant, Katie Victoria, Shea Somma, Sage Somma, Spencer Somma and Joseph McGhee. Also, his sister Anita Pevine and her husband, Edward of Dover, niece, Judy Pevine of Dover and his extended family at Gerry’s Variety Store, Exeter.
Services will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Saturday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Lincoln Street, Exeter or Exeter Junior Baseball League, PO Box 471 , Exeter, NH 03833. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
