Betty E. Gosselin

Betty Thurston Gosselin passed away on August 29th, 2016. She was born on September 2nd, 1928 in North Fryeburg, Maine to Charles Thurston and Florence Thurston. Her family included 2 bothers Jim and Robert (deceased) and 2 sisters Nancy and Faye. The family moved to Conway, NH where Betty graduated Kennett High School in 1946. In 1948, she married her first husband Donald Morgan (deceased). They had 3 daughters Linda Morgan, Donna Morgan Dennehy (deceased) and Lisa Morgan Merriman. They were divorced in 1968. Betty remarried to her surviving husband William J. Gosselin in 1977. The combined family has ten children and twenty-four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides being a mother and home-maker, Betty worked in various jobs until she became the longtime Hostess at the Exeter Inn of Exeter, NH. During that time she saw her daughters through high school and college. She and Bill left Exeter in 1977 to run the Deep River Inn in Plymouth, NH where Betty was the day to day manager for 4 years. Always the loyal wife and companion she followed Bill to jobs in Rhode Island, California and Connecticut. In 1990, having retired to the golf community of The Villages of Lady Lake, Florida where Betty took up golf at the age of 65, she enjoyed frequent visits from her family and pilgrimages to Disney and other Florida attractions. She also enjoyed swimming, golfing, driving their own golf cart and especially bingo for eighteen years before returning to New Hampshire in 2008 after an illness. Although she continued to have recurring health issues for the next 8 years, she enjoyed her bingo, jigsaw puzzles, word games and mostly her family and friends as she bravely battled Alzheimer's disease. In June of 2014 Bill and Betty moved to the Ernest Barka Assisted Living Community in Brentwood, NH and continued to enjoy life together. In April of 2016, she suffered a brief illness and was moved into the Nursing Facility at Rockingham County Complex and she was still there when she passed peacefully.

A service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday September 3rd, at the Stockbridge Funeral Home in Exeter. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to organizations battling Alzheimer's such as the Alzheimer's Association
