Amesbury, MA – Ralph R. Gardner, 86, formerly of Wilton, CT and Locus Grove, Virginia died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Health Center.

He was born in Bronx, NY September 3, 1928 the son of the late Hy and Marion (Thomas) Gardner.

He was raised in Manahattan, New York and was a graduate of the University of Illinois.

He lived in Virginia until 2013 and moved to Amesbury as his health began to fail, to be closer to his daughter. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict and worked for many years in Public Relations.

He was always very active in the communities where he lived.

Family members include his children, Richard R. Gardner, Thomas H. Gardner, Eve M. Gardner-Quinn, Barbara Orell and Katherine Faulkner, five grandchildren. Also a good friend, Helen Markart and her family.

Mr. Gardner was predeceased by his wives, Doris and Marjorie Gardner and his son, Michael A. Gardner.

A private celebration of his life will be held this summer at Martha’s Vineyard.
