John C. Gallagher



Stratham – John C. Gallagher, 77 , of Stratham died, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood.

He was born April 3, 1935 in Lowell, MA a son of the late Charles A. and Alice (White) Gallagher.

Mr. Gallagher was raised in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School and attended Northeastern University.  He lived in Chelmsford for 30 years before moving to Stratham in 1989.  

He was a mechanical draftsman working for Textron in Wilmington, MA for many years.  He was a Department Chairman at the Greater Lowell Regional Vocational-Technical School serving six departments.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4027 in Methuen, MA, a communicant of St. John Evangelist Church while in Chelmsford, and a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter.

He enjoyed music, and was especially fond of Irish music including Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers.

Family members include his wife of 58 years, Mary P. (Dunne) Gallagher of Stratham, a son, John C. “Jeff” Gallagher, Jr. and wife, Caren of Stratham, two daughters, Joy P. Gallagher-Deyo and husband Art of Phoenix, AZ and June E. Gallagher of North Chelmsford, MA, six grandchildren, John Crawford-Gallagher and wife Brandi, Kerry Gallagher, Erin Gallagher, Kelsey Gallagher, Rashid Khan, and Tariq Khan, a brother, Charles A. Gallagher of Port Lucy, FL, a sister Patricia M. Will of St. Charles, MO, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, corner of Front and Lincoln Streets, Exeter Wednesday, September 5 at 10 AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Rd., Exeter, NH Tuesday, September 4 from 5-7 PM.  Burial will be in the Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham, NH.  The family requests that flowers please be omitted.  If desired donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, PO Box 176, Exeter, NH  03833, or www.svdpexeter.com.
