Helen Carbonneau Frank
Helen Carbonneau Frank, age 80, died Sunday, January 4th, 2015 in Lecanto, FL after a long battle with dementia. Born in Exeter, NH, She was the daughter of Jerome (Jack) and Mary Irene (Stevens) Carbonneau.
She graduated from Robinson Female Seminary in 1952 and the University of New Hampshire with a degree in mathematics in 1956. She received a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, 1963. She worked as an aerospace software engineer, retiring from Lockheed Martin Corporation, Syracuse, NY in April 2002.
Helen was a true pioneer for women in engineering. She worked on many of our country’s defense systems from Armor Trainer to digital controls and Data Base Generation products while working for Philco/Ford, General Electric, Bendix Engineering and Martin Marrietta.
In 1965 she and her husband formed Scan Data Corporation where they developed some of the first scanning software/devices. They loved to sail and spent more than a year sailing the Caribbean and East coast of the United States.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alan I. Frank in February 2013 and her son, Michael J. Frank in November 2008.
She is survived by her two brothers John E. Carbonneau, his wife, Margaret of Exeter, NH; Robert P. Carbonneau, his wife Linnea of Exeter, NH and Fort Myers, FL; two grandchildren Tara Chandler Frank Jeroszko, her husband Robert of North Augusta, SC , Michael Tyler Frank of Anderson, SC; two great grandchildren Susannah and Benjamin Jeroszko of North Augusta. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michaels Church with burial in Exeter Cemetery in the spring.
