Kathleen Mary Ford
East Kingston – Kathleen M. Ford, 59, of East Kingston, NH passed away peacefully in her home on
January 14, 2009 surrounded by her loving family after a short, but difficult battle with lung cancer.
Kathy, as she was best known, was born December 27, 1949 in Beverly, MA, a daughter of the late Arthur W. and Phyllis A. (Westgate) Dawes. Mrs. Ford was raised in Warwick, RI and Chelmsford and Boxford, MA and graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in 1968.
She was a successful business owner together with her husband of 38 years, Charles F. “Freddie” Ford. Together they owned and operated KMF Trucking Company of East Kingston, among several other ventures, for many years. Kathy loved to travel, work in her flower gardens at home, play with her five grandchildren and spend time helping others attain their full potential. She was noted for her unique, however direct approach with people. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters Caryn Ford of East Kingston, Pamela Ford of Mooresville, NC, brother Douglas Dawes and wife Pam of Georgetown, MA, sisters Constance Dawes of Beverly, MA, Margaret Dawes of Hampton, NH, Patricia Turschman and husband Jeb of Henniker, NH as well as her “five bestest babies” Brianna, Joey and Teegan Ford and Derrick and Colby Batchelder-Ford as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit with Kathy’s family from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michaels Church, corner of Lincoln and Front Streets, Exeter, NH , Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10 AM. Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Kingston.
