Fillmore, Dorothy A (nee Podann)

Dorothy Fillmore, 83, of Brentwood, NH passed away on Wednesday, March 25 in Portsmouth NH. Born on November 12, 1931 in Hartford Connecticut to the late William F and Catherine (Heldmann) Podann, she grew up in Hartford and Wethersfield CT, graduating from Wethersfield High School. Dorothy worked for Lepper Printing, Christ the King Lutheran Church and the Windsor CT Board of Education, retiring from the Board in 1999. Living in Bloomfield CT from 1961 to 1999, she moved in 1999 to Kensington NH and then to Brentwood NH to be with her daughter, Jennifer and her family. Mom’s love of books and her unwavering gentleness and kindness will always be remembered. She had a strong faith and was an active church member her entire life.

She leaves her children to remember her - daughter Donna Hubbs and her husband, Dennis and daughter, Leslie Fillmore, all of Bloomfield CT; daughter, Jennifer Berry, of Brentwood NH and her son, Jeffrey P Fillmore and his wife, Laura Gonzalez, of Derry NH. She also leaves her grandchildren - Jenny Marie Culin and her husband, Kristopher, Bristol CT, Steven Hubbs and his girlfriend, Kristin Palardy, of Montpelier VT, and Jaime and Melanie Berry with whom she shared a home for over 15 years. She also leaves her brother, Arthur Podann and his wife, Mary, of Vernon CT and her sister-in-law Barbara Podann of Cromwell, CT, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews and their children. She also leaves her ex-husband and friend, Albert Fillmore of Bloomfield CT. She was predeceased by her siblings, Betty Loomis, formerly of Santa Barbara CA, and William F Podann, Jr, formerly of Cromwell CT.

The family welcomes you to a Memorial Service to honor Dorothy’s life on Saturday, April 11 at 11am at First United Methodist Church, 129 Miller Avenue, Portsmouth NH 03801, with the Reverend Susan B. Ellery officiating. A reception will be held following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to either First United Methodist Church or to Faith Lutheran Church, Faith Moves, 1120 Silver Lane, East Hartford CT 06118. Any contributions given in her memory would be welcomed by her family.
