Willard F. Field
Exeter – Willard F. Field, 79, of Exeter, died on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health.
He was born in Exeter on December 18, 1931, the son of the late Willard and Hazel (Rowell) Field.
Mr. Field had resided on the family homestead in Exeter his entire life. Willard started working as a young man for the Exeter Lumberyard and also worked as a logger for Mr. Richard Sargent of Newton. He retired after spending over 40 years as a truck driver for Rila Precast.
Willard was a quiet and hard-working man who was devoted to his family and his farm. He loved nature and working outside was a perfect day for him. Willard took great pride in his farm, a pride he instilled in his close friends and neighbors. He was always available whenever needed and made peoples lives better by just being there. Whether he was chopping wood or helping a neighbor to repair a roof, Willard never complained, despite his recent ailments and failing health. He was “quite a guy.”
He is survived by his sister, Catherine Field, also of the family homestead in Exeter and many dear friends and good neighbors
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Hilda (Palmer) Field who died in 1983.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, May 2, 2011 in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Rd., Exeter. Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Willard’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
