Joan K. Drew
Exeter - Joan K. Drew passed away on Tuesday, January 12 at Eliot Hospital in Manchester after a long illness. Born in Amesbury, MA on February 14, 1934 to Ruth Lenora Jeffers and Hermann Beveridge Kinney, Joan grew up on Kinney Farm and attended Amesbury public schools. She met the love of her life, Richard Francis Drew, at Amesbury High School where she was a drum majorette and he was on the football team. She was graduated from Forsyth College of Dental Hygenistry and married Richard on July 31, 1954.
Joan raised four children in Kensington, NH: Kathryn A. Drew, New Paltz, NY, Wendy E. Lawler, Kensington, NH, Laurie E. Whitehead, Pedricktown, NJ and David A. Drew, Exeter, NH. Joan was the proud grandmother, aka Mimi, to Philip Richard Alan Fortier (deceased), Kellee Ruth Lawler, Drew Richard Lawler, Elizabeth Drew Van Raalte, Kristine Eliza Drew and Samantha Ann Drew. She is survived by her brother, Alan Jeffers Kinney, his wife, Joyce Fall Kinney and their three children, Bridget, Greg and Jennifer. She also leaves behind beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH at 6 pm on Tuesday, January 19. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Children's Cultural Passport Fund at Kensington Elementary School, 122 Amesbury Road, Kensington, NH 03833. Joan and her husband took great pride in the Elementary School, where her children went and where her daughter, Wendy, teaches today. Burial will be at Kensington Cemetery in the spring.
