He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1964, and came back stateside to marry his true love Dianne (Doherty), which they did on April 16, 1966. They moved to Exeter in 1967, and have been residents ever since.
Bob worked for Kingston-Warren, Dearborn’s, and Romar during his career while chasing after 3 sons (Michael, Jeffrey, and Peter) throughout years of Hockey, Little League, Football, Golf and general mischief that 3 boys can create. Bob was very active in all of his son’s sports and activities through coaching, umpiring, and fund-raising.
Bob continued his own sporting life through golfing at Exeter Country Club and bowling with wife Dianne at the Exeter Bowling Lanes.
As his son’s grew older, Bob’s family (without question his pride and joy) grew. Grandchildren Maddie, Tyler, Abby, and Kate came into this world over the past 13 years and Bob (Papa) loved every minute spent with each of them. His eyes would sparkle at mere mention of them, and when he saw them, look out!
In Bob’s later years, Alzheimer’s robbed him of many memories, but not his joy for life or an opportunity to make others smile and laugh. He was very good at it!
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dianne, and their three sons, Mike and his wife Tracey of Portsmouth, Jeff and his wife Lesley of Exeter, and Pete and his wife Kara of Deerfield. He is also survived by his two sisters, Anne Scholz and her husband Walter of Taunton MA and Mary Ryzewic of Honolulu HI, and nephews Bob Mendes, Lee Ryzewic and niece Kathy Mendes Scully and several cousins.
Bob has now left this earth. Until we meet again, we love you and thank you for being such a good husband, father, grandfather and role model.
Generous thanks go to all of his caregivers at HomeInstead and at Bellamy Fields in Dover.
