Richard Forest DeLesDernier, Jr.
Exeter, NH. – Richard Forest DeLesDernier, Jr., 69, of Exeter passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 3, 1945 in Boston, MA and grew up in Watertown, MA. He is the son of the late Richard F. and Geraldine (Crook) DeLesDernier.
Richard attended South Shore VocTech High School and served proudly for his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He had a prestigious 20-year career as a Massachusetts State Trooper.
Richard (aka, Dickie) had a passion for gadgets, life and especially family. He was fun, charming, generous and a man's man. He had a twinkle in his eye and a warm, beautiful, welcoming smile. He had a quick-wit--sure to make everyone in the room laugh and smile. Richard was the first member and President of The Blue Knights, Massachusetts Chapter 1, a law-enforcement motorcycle Club. He loved to camp at Ellis Haven campground in Plymouth, MA. He enjoyed playing the guitar and sports including baseball, hockey, and golf.
Family members include his wife, Denise Fears DeLesDernier, his son Joshua Kardos, his wife Lisa Kardos and dog Charley-girl. He is also survived by his sister Pamela Stowell and her husband Robert Stowell and his sister Francis Verrill and her husband Stephen Verrill. The uncle of Bobby, Pammy, Kim and Stevie and many cousins and a great niece and great nephews. He was loved by many more and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of his life will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family, Sunday at the funeral home from 3-5 PM. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Burial will be private.
