Lawrence R. Daoust, Sr.









Stratham – Lawrence R. Daoust, Sr, 84, of Stratham died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 1, 1930 in Pittsfield, MA the son of the late Phillip R. and Rosanna (Pellerin) Daoust.

He lived for many years in Pittsfield where he worked for General Electric as a toolmaker for 43 years, moving to Stratham in 2012. He was a member of the Springside Park Greenhouse Club for 20 years and volunteered cooking for patrons at the South Congregational Soup Kitchen for many years as well. He also volunteered at Tanglewood, where he built the beautiful stonewall surrounding the garden outside of Seiji Ozawa Hall. He was a talented artist in nearly any medium, and an avid horticulturalist. He loved to cook and share hearty laughs with friends and family. He is remembered for his charm, his character, his integrity, and his dedication and love for his family.

He was the husband of the late Barbara (O’Connor) Daoust.

He was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is remembered by his five children, Lawrence R. Daoust, Jr., David P. Daoust and his wife Jeanette, Christine Daoust, Deborah Marchant, and Melissa Merchant and her longtime companion Michael McCarthy; his 5 grandchildren, Jason A. Marchant, Danielle R. Marchant, Gabrielle R. Merchant, Alex B. Merchant, and Michelle L. Daoust; and his brother, Philip R. Daoust and his wife Maureen; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher D.B. Daoust.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH, on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, PO Box 160, Hatfield, MA 01038, Attn: Development Department or to a charity of your choice.
