Elizabeth M. Coursey
EXETER - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Coursey, 89, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at The Ridge at RiverWoods.
She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (McElroy) Shea. She was raised in Bridgeport and resided in Stratford, Conn., for 53 years before moving to Exeter in 2000.
She was a graduate of Central High School, Bridgeport.
Mrs. Coursey worked at Remington Arms Company in Bridgeport during World War II, when she met her future husband, Frank.
The widow of Frank Coursey, who died in 2005, she is survived by two sons, Thomas P. Coursey and his wife Anne of Wellesley, Mass., and Frank Coursey Jr. of Wolcott, Vt.; two daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth A. and Thomas Corwin of Potomac Falls, Va., and Ellen C. and Brian Buckley of Hampton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas Shea of Meriden, Conn.
She was predeceased by her one brother, Joseph Shea.
WE REMEMBER: She was a communicant of St. Mark Church, Stratford, for 33 years, a member of the Ladies' Guild, and a member of the Harry B. Brownson Country Club.
She enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford.
The family will visit with relatives and friends in the Upper Room at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the Mass. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, Conn.
