Robert L. Cooke


Robert Livingstone Cooke died peacefully on Jan. 14 at his home in Nottingham, NH, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born July 19, 1930, in Lawrence, MA, to L. Anson and Ruth (Livingstone) Cooke.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Quentin Cooke, Stephen Cooke, Elliott Cooke; and sister Leslie Freeman.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane E (Greenwood) Cooke and their children and spouses Robert and Nancy Cooke, Ruth and Ron Roy, Stephen and Marie Cooke, Myles and Tina Cooke, and Christopher Cooke. Bob was blessed with 13 grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses Anson and Catherine Cooke, Nancy and William Deacon, Frederick and Leona Cooke, John and Constance Cooke, Cynthia and William Farnum, and Susan and Buck Shefler; his sister-in-law Linda Dumont; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob was a disabled veteran having served in the US Air force during the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He also had a membership in the Methuen Grange where he met his wife Jane.

Bob and Jane raised their family in Derry and Exeter, NH. As a young man Bob worked delivering coal and oil and worked for Avco, as a model builder, in the Space R&D group. He later ran his own business, Cooke Home Improvement. Bob was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving on the Council Wood Badge training staff and as Scoutmaster of Troop 322 in Exeter. Bob was active in Christ Church, Exeter. 

The family wishes to thank Ruth for her compassionate care of Bob over his last years and to Sarah for all her care given in these last days.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to the Daniel Webster Council, BSA, 571 Holt Ave, Manchester, NH  Manchester, NH 03109.  Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter, NH.
