George A. Collins
Kensington – George A. Collins, 82, of Kensington died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover.
He was born October 4, 1924 in Sanbornton, NH a son of the late Louis L. and Grace (Leavitt) Collins.
Mr. Collins lived most of his life in Kensington and was a member of the Kensington American Legion. He worked for the Exeter Manufacturing Company as a Textile Chemist for many years.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a naturalist and enjoyed gardening and animals. He grew tomatoes and supplied the local area restaurants with his vegetables. He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed sharing his tales with everyone.He was instrumental, working tirelessly, to pass property tax abatement legislation for senior citizens in Kensington.
Family members include his wife of 60 years, Barbara A. (Stocks) Collins of Kensington, two daughters, Brenda J. Schmidt and her husband Dr. Morton of Stratham, Cathy C. Silva and her husband, Jay of Situate, MA, four grandchildren, Katie Schmidt, Sam Schmidt, Lili Silva and Maya Silva.
Services will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday at 3 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the funeral home, Saturday from 2 PM until the hour of the service. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
