Philip R. Cole
Wakefield, NH - Philip R. Cole, 84 of Wakefield, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH.
He was born in Merrimac, MA August 20, 1925, the son of Chester C. and Helen D. (Tucker) Cole and was raised in Haverhill, MA and on Plum Island.
Mr. Cole was a WWII veteran serving in the US Merchant Marine, transporting ammunition to the war zone. And received two bars for service in Merchant Marine Combat Zone and for the Atlantic War Zone.
He worked many years for Process Engineering of Plaistow, NH as a metal grinder and finisher. After moving to Wakefield, he worked for Chic Lumber Company of Silver Lake, NH.
Mr. Cole was an avid fisherman, camper, gardener, and storyteller. He especially enjoyed being with his family and animals.
Family members include his wife of 46 years, Marguerite E. Cole of Wakefield; her son, Harlan Tozier, and his wife Elizabeth of Brookfield,NH, her two daughters-in law Anne L. Tozier of Bakersfield, CA and Kathryn Renzie of Haverhill, MA, 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, a niece Barbara Rollins Schwartz of Il.
He was predeceased by a brother, Seaver Cole, two sisters, Barbara Rollins and Janet Jameson, Wayne Tozier, Willard Tozier and Jeanne Hutchins, children of Marguerite Cole and a granddaughter, Robin Tozier-Young.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday at 5 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family Saturday from 2 PM until the hour of the service. Burial will be private. Flowers are acceptable.
